El arte de gobernar las pasiones. Bernardo de Monteagudo, ¿Lector de Helvétius?

El movimiento de la Ilustración, aun en sus aspectos más radicales, no vio circunscrita sus fronteras a los países de la Europa central; fue un movimiento con intenciones cosmopolitas y materializaciones diversas. Guiados por esa convicción, nuestra intención es la ofrecer una primera aproximación al modo en cómo fueron recibidas las Lumières francesas en los confines del Río de la Plata. Más en particular, nos abocaremos al estudio de algunos textos tempranos de Bernardo de Monteagudo con fin de determinar la posible recepción de ideas y argumentos desarrollados por Claude-Adrien Helvétius, especialmente en relación con un tópico particular: el que refiere al arte de gobernar las pasiones humanas.
