La teoría de la selección natural frente al neolamarckismo epigenético

Resumo

Os efeitos neolamarckianos, independentemente de qual seja seu suporte estrutural, são incapazes de explicar a evolução adaptativa; embora, nalguns casos, eles sim possam ser algum papel causal nesse processo. Os efeitos neolamarckianos, se ocorrerem, sempre devem ficar submetidos ao controle da seleção natural. Valendo para eles o que vale para qualquer variação hereditária que possa surgir ao interior de uma população; sem importar se essas variações são genéticas ou epigenéticas. Por outra parte, por si próprios, esses efeitos só podem gerar mudanças evolutivas muita limitadas. No que corresponde a esses assuntos, o recurso à herança epigenética não altera os termos do problema que Darwin enfrentou quando enunciou a Teoria da Seleção Natural.
